We’re very honored to have a guest on our blog today. When Vanita emailed me pictures of her super cute kids opening her daughter’s Lola Trading Charms package and told me how happy she is with her purchase, well, one thing led to another and here she is with a guest post and hosting our blog’s first giveaway!
Notice her son doesn’t seemed too thrilled? Having 3 sisters I can almost hear him say, “gross, more girlie stuff”.
Please welcome Vanita Cyril of The Strategic Mama. She is the brilliant website designer who designed my Lola Trading Charms website as well as a happy customer, but more importantly, she’s a great friend.
Take it away Vanita!
Welcome, welcome my lovelies!
Thanks for joining me here on Lola Trading Charm’s blog.
I’m super excited to be here and so happy to help Rae host her first giveaway!
But before I do, I wanted to share with you why this brand is so dear to me.
For those who don’t know me, I’m the proud mama of 4. Two teenage girls, a 5 year old boy and a 4 year old girl. My 4 year old, Natasha, is in the picture above.
Every single day Natasha wants to be like her older sisters.
She wants to do what they do. Wear what they wear. Have what they have.
There’s a lot of envy manifesting from that little body on a daily basis.
I think she’s even got it in her head that it’s her against the teens because she refers to them as “the sisters”.
Not her sisters, the sisters.
I find that each time Natasha asks me for something, I have to respond “when you’re older baby”.
She’ll then fold her arms across her chest and stomp away. Usually.
Until the night before school started and the teens’ room was in a huge mess while they decided what to wear for the first day of school. Jeans on the dresser instead of in it, sandals on their desks and accessories on the bed.
Which was where you could find Natasha rummaging through everything, trying on this or that. When bedtime came along and she realized she was leaving empty handed, that child threw the biggest tantrum I’ve ever seen.
She was on the ground, screaming while she cried, pounding the floor with her little fists, her feet kicking anything within reach.
Of course we left her there, in the dark, on the floor. Eventually she came out and sobbed quietly about me loving the sisters more.
She was frustrated. I get that. She also played the guilt card really well. I spent a lot of time trying to give her “extra love and attention” over the next few days. And then my son became jealous.
You just can’t win around here!
That was two months ago. Her birthday has come and gone. She still wants an iPod and to wear lipstick, but she also takes pride in having her own jewelry that she can put on. And I laughed at the satisfaction she took in telling her oldest sister, “No, you can’t wear my charms.”
Being an only child, I didn’t get it, but I do now. Natasha wanted something of her own that her sisters didn’t have.
So today, I’m honored to host this giveaway, giving one lucky winner the opportunity to make their favorite little girl feel like a princess.
